At the Valet, we constantly strive to deliver an excellent male grooming experience for the regular fella on the street.
As a result of the extra effort we go to with our first class customer service, sumptuous environment and the professional skills of our barbers, our establishment has, via the ‘grooming grapevine’, come to the attention of more than a few celebrities, personalities and ‘faces’.
Cast your eye over the following group of endorsements from a few notable faces who’ve experienced The Valet at first hand.

As a man who is not afraid to look his best, I am no stranger to the odd treatment.
Massages, facials and exfoliation in general, none of these phrases fill me with horror. In general, though, I tend to end up doing these type of things in the presence of, and when organised by, my girlfriend.
And there is no denying the fact that, despite the growing popularity of male grooming, your average salon is geared more towards the feminine persuasion, and it’s a bit emasculating padding from the treatment room to the relaxation area in a pink towel and fluffy slippers. That is why The Valet, in East Croydon, is perfect for the modern man (like me). It offers a comprehensive range of cuts, massages, facials, hot towel shaves and general pampering, but done in the style of a classic, traditional barber – a bit like Jeeves and Wooster on a spa retreat.
At the Valet, they take shaving pretty seriously. In fact the owner David is on a one man mission to educate the masses…
Expertly chopped and re-styled
I opted for the Royal Deluxe which represents a perfect afternoon for the man of leisure. First up, I had my hair expertly chopped and re-styled by impressive barber Sam, whose skills with scissors and a razor belies his tender years. Then I had myself a wet-shave. At the Valet, they take shaving pretty seriously. In fact the owner David is on a one man mission to educate the masses – constantly giving tips like making sure the blade doesn’t go against the grain of your beard.
My face was coated with a pre-cream and then lathered up with some hot menthol and eucalyptus shaving cream with a badger hair brush, and finally I was shorn of my unsightly stubble and left feeling smooth and sleek. Not content with this, the team then applied various ointments to rehydrate my skin, before completing an incredible masculine facial with steam and a clay mask. I might be biased, but I reckon it took years off me! No sooner had the clay mask been peeled off, than it was off to the back of their treatment rooms for a relaxing and luxurious Swedish body massage.

One nice thing about the Valet, and possibly an advantage of not being in central London, is the friendly local vibe of the place. But i must say this model would certainly fit in well on the streets of the West End, and I’m sure that if they eventually set up a branch there, it will be a major success!
The whole experience was great
As I came back to the barber shop floor, staff and customers were chatting away, talking shop or enjoying a beer. And to make sure I left in tip-top condition, Sam gave me one last re-style to get rid of my treatment table head. The whole experience was great – and I could see the kind of treatment I had catching on for lads before a wedding or (dare I say it) stag dos. The professional grooming side is a notch up from your local barber store and most certainly has the advantage over these larger high street salons for price and service!
I waltzed out of the Valet feeling and, I would venture, looking like a million dollars – but the price was nearer a million lira.

Lucas Armitage – loaded magazinehot towel shave experience, but enjoying the benefits of facial hair (not looking like a 15-year-old boy being one of them), I was interested to try the Captains Valet Deluxe – a beard trim being at the bones of the treatment. Worlds apart from my usual electric beard trim the Captains Valet is a second-to-none experience that not only enhances the look of the beard through precision shaping and of course trimming down to the desired length but, the real surprise was the after effects it had on my skin and face.
The experts at the Valet Male Grooming Company Ltd. may attribute this soft face feeling to the Geranium gel they use, not forgetting the relaxing facial steam and scented hot towel. This was a deluxe shaving and trimming experience that left me feeling ready to face the world – safe in the knowledge my facial hair had never looked better. This would be the perfect grooming treat for those finding their skin not adjusting too well to the cold of the winter or those just looking to take an indulgent hour to themselves.
This was a deluxe shaving and trimming experience that left me feeling ready to face the world.

Dane Bowers – Music Producer
The 2010 Celebrity Big Brother runner-up and music producer, Dane Bowers, is now a regular client at the Valet flagship store.
Dane finds getting his hair cut makes him feel tired and he wasn’t a big fan of shaving either!
However, Dane now enjoys coming to the Valet to get a relaxing hot towel shave and a wash cut and scalp massage, and only entrusts this to Barber Hadi. Watch his personal interview with 6 O’clock BBC news reporter Marc Ashdown, another Valet Customer, and see for yourself what he has to say about our barbering services.
David Wright – Crystal Palace F.C.

Sports massage in the Treatment rooms for Eagles star
It has been reliably reported that the Gaffer, Dougie Freedman, has very strict rules when it comes to his player’s appearance, both on an off the field. This comes as no surprise when you consider how well groomed he manages to keep himself. David Maseyk, The Valet’s Co-owner, commented that we would be honoured to look after the Palace boys regularly to ensure that they look their very best before each Saturday’s fixtures. We have assured David that the boys can come in on a Friday after training and enjoy some proper pampering & grooming whilst spending some quality ‘down time’ time together. We can also guarantee that the Gaffer won’t be issuing any yellow cards to his players after we have finished with them. “Come on you Eagles”.
Marc Ashdown – BBC News reporter
The BBC’s ’6 O’Clock Live’ news reporter, Marc Ashdown, better known for his daring, live on-location scene reporting was thrilled to find his favourite Barber shop had won Croydon’s Best New Business award.
Marc was in for a cut and a sports massage on Friday last week and was over the moon to see the trophy displayed in the shop. So much so that he insisted on having his picture taken holding it.
A Sports massage in the Treatment Rooms for Marc
Marc has been visiting the Valet since just after we opened, frequently getting his hair cut and also treating himself to a hot towel shave every now and then. He is also quite a keen sportsman, playing football for a local team in Reigate, so he has now started to use our treatment rooms, for some holistic treatment and sports therapy.
Marc, known by most at the BBC for hanging around outside buildings for the latest news reporting opportunity, keeps himself well groomed and says he wouldn’t go anywhere else. Apart from the great hair cuts he gets, he says he just loves popping down to the Valet for some ‘me time’, and to soak up the atmosphere in the shop.
David Maseyk, Manager of The Valet, says “We have, in a short space of time, managed to get quite a few TV faces visiting the shop, and when Marc pops in, seeing him is always such a pleasure, as he really does value our services and makes a point of showing it. He is dedicated to his work, is a great people’s man and loves keeping himself looking good. What more could we ask for!”
